KENTUCKY HEALTH DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION, INCORPORATED
POSITION STATEMENT
INDIGENT HEALTH CARE
It is within the scope of the public health mission to
serve the people without a voice and those who have no medical resources.
Since there is not universal health care, there is a great need for public
health departments throughout the Commonwealth to continue to serve the
preventative and clinical health care needs of the uninsured and indigent.
Over 4,000 local public health workers stand ready to provide care for this
population through collaboration with community partners.
